AMOXICILLIN TABLETS FOR ORAL SUSPENSION USP 250 MG
Amoxicillin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children
Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Acute otitis media
• Acute streptococcal tonsillitis and pharyngitis
• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Community acquired pneumonia
• Acute cystitis
• Asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy
• Acute pyelonephritis
• Typhoid and paratyphoid fever
• Dental abscess with spreading cellulitis
• Prosthetic joint infections
• Helicobacter pylori eradication
• Lyme disease
Amoxicillin is also indicated for the prophylaxis of endocarditis.
Each uncoated dispersible tablet contains:
Amoxicillin trihydrate USP
Eq. to Amoxicillin … 250mg
Excipients .. q.s
Method of administration: Oral
DOSAGE
Mix one tablet in a small amount of water [approximately 2 teaspoonsful]. Drink the entire mixture. Rinse the container with an additional small amount of water and drink the contents to assure the whole dose is taken. Do not chew or swallow the tablets. The tablets will not rapidly dissolve in your mouth. The tablet is not recommended to be mixed with any liquid other than water.
Neonates and infants aged ≤ 12 weeks (≤ 3 months)
Due to incompletely developed renal function affecting elimination of amoxicillin in this age group, the recommended upper dose of amoxicillin is 30 mg/kg/day divided every 12h.
