ALBENDAZOLE ORAL SUSPENSION 100 MG/5 ML

ALBENDAZOLE TABLETS 400 MG

ALBENDAZOLE is indicated in the treatment of single or mixed intestinal parasites including Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworm), Taenia spp. (tapeworm) and Strongyloides stercoralis. ALBENDAZOLE has been shown to be effective in the treatment of Giardia (duodenalis or intestinalis or lamblia) infections in children.


COMPOSITION (Suspension)

Each 5ml contains

Albendazole USP … 100mg

Flavoured Syrupy base … q.s

COMPOSITION (Tablet)

Each Chewable uncoated tablet contains:

Albendazole USP....400mg

Excipients….q.s

Method of administration: Oral

DOSAGE

Dosing of Albendazole varies, depending upon which parasitic infection is being treated.

DOSAGE FOR ADULTS

Adult & children (over 2 years of age): 20ml (400mg) as single dose.

DOSAGE FOR CHILDREN

10ml (200mg) as a single dose or as recommended by the physician.

SIDE EFFECT
headache, neck stiffness, increased sensitivity to light, confusion;
fever;
nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;
abnormal liver function tests;
dizziness, spinning sensation; or.
temporary hair loss.




PRECAUTION
Use albendazole during pregnancy with caution if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or neither animal nor human studies were done.
Breastfeeding patients should use caution while using albendazole; consult your physician.
