KETOCONAZOLE CREAM 2%W/W

Ketoconazole Cream is used for topical application in the treatment of dermatophyte infections of the skin such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manus and tinea pedis infections due to Trichophyton spp, Microsporon spp and Epidermophyton spp. Ketoconazole cream 2%w/w is also indicated for the treatment of cutaneous candidosis (including vulvitis), tinea (pityriasis) versicolor and seborrhoeic dermatitis caused by Malassezia (previously called Pityrosporum) spp.



COMPOSITION

Each gram contains:
Ketoconazole USP…………… 2 %w/w
Cream base …………………q.s.

DOSAGE

Ketoconazole cream 2%w/w should be applied to the affected areas once or twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection.


SIDE EFFECT
Severe itching, burning, or irritation where the medicine is applied;
Oily or dry scalp, mild hair loss;
Redness, pain, or oozing of treated skin areas; or.
Eye redness, swelling, or irritation.




PRECAUTION
Avoid taking Ketoconazole if these conditions: -
Allergy to Ketoconazole, or any other
anti-fungal medicines.
Liver disease
Kidney disease
Heart disease (heart failure, coronary artery
disease, heart valve disease)
Lung disease (chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease)
Decreased or no stomach acid
Low levels of potassium or magnesium
in blood.
Always inform your doctor if you have reduced testosterone levels, reduced cortisol levels or Addison’s disease.
