Cefixime is an orally active cephalosporin antibiotic which has marked in vitro bactericidal

activity against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. It is indicated for

the treatment of the Respiratory Tract Infections & Urinary Tract Infections.  

XIMELAV DT 200 is an antibiotic medication containing 200 mg of cefixime, a broad-spectrum cephalosporin. It is designed to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections,

urinary tract infections, and otitis media. The dispersible tablet formulation allows for easy administration, especially for patients who may have difficulty swallowing pills, as it can be dissolved in water.

Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively stopping the growth of bacteria. Patients should take this medication as prescribed by their healthcare provider to ensure

optimal results and minimize the risk of resistance.


COMPOSITION

Each uncoated dispersible tablet contains:

Cefixime (as Trihydrate) BP

Equivalent to Cefixime …….200 mg

Excipients……………...  q.s

DOSAGE

As directed by the physician.

SIDE EFFECT

·         Abdominal pain, upset stomach, persistent nausea and vomiting.

·         Allergic reactions that occur in the form of skin rashes, swelling and breathing difficulty.

·         Paleness of skin, yellowish eyes and unexplained exhaustion.

·         Dark colour of urine and change in amount and frequency of urinary discharge which may be indicative of kidney related problem.

·         Frequent mood swings and confusion.
