TIMOLOL MALEATE OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION USP 0.5% W/V

Timolol is a beta-adrenoceptor blocking agent used topically in the reduction of elevated intra-ocular pressure in various conditions including following:

- Patients with ocular hypertension;

- Patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma including aphakic patients

- Some patient with secondary glaucoma.


COMPOSITION

Timolol Maleate USP 

eq. to Timolol ... 0.5% w/v

Sterile Aqueous Base … q.s

Benzalkonium chloride solution USP/NF ... 0.02% v/v

Method of administration: Eye drops.

DOSAGE

Recommended therapy is one drop 0.5% solution in the affected eye twice a day.

Timolol may be used with other agent(s) for lowering intra-ocular pressure. The use of two topical beta-adrenergic blocking agents is not recommended.

SIDE EFFECT
Timolol eye drops or gel-forming solution may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
1) Eye irritation.
2) Double vision.
3) Headache.
4) Depression.
5) Dizziness.
6) Nausea.




PRECAUTION
Avoid rubbing your eyes even if your vision is blurred. Do not drive a car or operate machinery if you are unable to see clearly. if you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before instilling timolol eye drops or gel-forming solution, and wait until 15 minutes after using timolol to put them back in.

Timolol Maleate eye drop is available in 10 ml white HDPE dropper bottle with nozzle & ring cap.
