CIPROFLOXACIN OINTMENT USP 0.3 % W/W
CIPROFLOXACIN EYE / EAR DROP
Ciprofloxacin ophthalmic ointment is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the microorganisms listed below:
Gram-Positive: Staphylococcus aureus Staphylococcus epidermidis Streptococcus pneumoniae Streptococcus Viridans Group
Gram-Negative: Haemophilus influenzae
Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride USP
Equivalent to Ciprofloxacin USP… 0.3% w/v
Benzalkonium Chloride NF… 0.02 % v/v (as preservative)
Sterile aqueous buffered vehicle… Q.s
Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride USP
Equivalent to Ciprofloxacin USP… 0.3% w/w
Benzalkonium Chloride NF… 0.01 % w/w
Sterile Ointment base… Q.s
DOSAGE
Apply a 1/2 inch ribbon into the conjunctival sac three times a day on the first two days, then apply a 1/2inch ribbon two times a day for the next five days.
Ophthalmic Drops: For bacterial conjunctivitis
Put 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye every 2 hours, while awake, for 2 days. Then put 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye every 4 hours, while awake, for the next 5 days.
Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic Ointment may cause temporarily sting or burn in eyes for a minute or two when applied. Blurred vision, eye discomfort, itching, and redness, tearing & dry eyes, feeling as if something is in eye, a bad taste in mouth, or sensitivity to light may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Ciprofloxacin may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, appropriate therapy should be initiated. Ciprofloxacin should be discontinued at the first appearance of a skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity reaction.
